Project Task
For this assignment, I was tasked with selecting and analyzing a runway show from the 1990s to present day, using online resources. I chose Diesel’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection and conducted an in-depth analysis of the show’s creative direction. This included evaluating the set design, model casting, hair and makeup, styling, theme, and the overall message communicated through the presentation. The goal was to understand how each visual and experiential element contributed to the brand’s identity and storytelling.
Project Process
I began by thoroughly watching the full runway show and reviewing supplementary visuals and press coverage. I did extensive research on the individual looks, focusing on garment details such as fabrication, silhouette, layering, and styling choices. I also explored the meaning and overarching theme of the collection by referencing interviews with the creative director, articles, and social media commentary. Each component—from clothing to soundtrack—was analyzed in the context of Diesel’s brand image and market strategy. I compiled my findings into a detailed report that connected creative choices with cultural relevance and brand storytelling.
